how high of a does can u take if u feel it is not doing what u want it too

can i take more then one tab a day if it is only 20mg  it is citalopram   HBR

Hi Beth,

You really shouldn't take a higher dose than normal of your medication without talking it through with your doctor/psych first. If you feel your dose needs increased make an appointment and explain why you feel an increase would be beneficial. I have been on doses from 20-60m of citalopram and am currently on 40mg. I didn't notice much difference between 40 and 60mg hence why I went back to 40mg BUT I did notice a benefit when I moved from 20 to 40mg. So perhaps an increase would be helpful for you - just make sure you see a doctor first!
