My 10 year old grandson had a tooth filling come out and was told he needs a root canal. Has infection and was given antibiotics first before surgery could be done. In terrible pain that codeine won't touch. Jaw exscrutiary painful. Within 12 hours soft pallate under tongue totally swollen and hard. Salivary glands under tongue looks like "second tongue". Lymph nodes under chin and neck swollen and extremely painful. Pain meds don't touch the pain.
