Beginning in December 2011 on the right side of my mouth, I had a root scaling, a filling on the lower right back tooth and temporary crown on the upper right back tooth. The next day I had the most awful gum ache ever. The doc thought I might have a high spot, filed the tooth down and sent me home. It did not help. She put me on antibiotic for bacterial infection, did not seem to help. She put some kind of protectant on the back bottom filled tooth and I finally felt relief. As soon as that was better, a week or so later, we started the left side root scaling and I was fitted for 2 crowns on the lower back tooth and the 3rd tooth from the back. I have been in pain since then. She thought maybe it was another high spot on the temporaries. I had the new crowns seated a week ago. It has been 3 weeks and I am still in pain. The pain seems the the worst at night. The two new left crowns have been filed down so much that she said she would have to have them remade soon. She mentioned the third tooth from back had such a deep filling she was concerned it might need a root canal. That does not seem to be what's bothering me. Most of the pain seems to be associated with the back tooth, but the tooth itself does not seem to hurt, the pain is in the gum and now seems to be going up toward the ear. Now at the side of my left ear I seem to have a small moveable lump just above my ear lobe. I have to take Ibuprofen every 3 1/2 hrs just to try to stay ahead of the pain. At night, it takes the Ibuprofen sometimes an hour and a half to kick in. The doc just put me on antibiotic again yesterday and wants me to wait 5 days. She is going out of town for the weekend. I am so frustrated as I'm sure she is too. Please help. The doctor seems to be at a loss and the xrays seem normal. I need answers...SOON! Taking all of this Ibuprofen cannot be good for me as this has been going on with one side or the other for 6 weeks now. I NEED ANSWERS AND SOLUTIONS.
