It’s time for another installment of “ cool dental links “. The links are still “cool”, but I’m going to change the name to “Weekend Dental Links” because, you guessed it, I’ll be featuring them on the weekends. I’m only human, so I like to relax a bit on the weekends, and this should give you some reading material while you’re hopefully relaxing on the weekends as well. So, without further ado…

1. The current condition of the U.S. Economy is hitting everyone hard, not just those of us living in the United States - as confirmed by the antics of a German dentist recently. According to telegraph.co.uk, a German dentist recently broke into a woman’s house, tied her hands, and forcibly removed bridges from her mouth that her insurance company refused to pay for. 2. A new handheld 3D-imaging technology, called iTero, is allowing Prosthodontists to offer virtual molding to their patients in lieu of the messy, bad-tasting mold material we’re used to. The 3-D technology is currently available in a number of states and is expected to expand in the near future.
3. Colgate has recently warned consumers of counterfeit toothpaste distributed under their name. The counterfeit toothpaste has been imported from South Africa, and contains a harmful ingredient known as diethylene glycol, a chemical found in antifreeze. Read more about Colgate’s warning.
