What is TMJ?
The acronym TMJ stands for the temporomandibular joint. This is the joint of the skull with the lower jaw. The lower jaw bone, mandible, joins the skull with the upper temporal bone. There is one TMJ on each side of your face.

What is TMJ disorder?
TMJ disorder (TMJD) refers to pain or any problem related to the TMJ. TMJD is also referred to as TMD and even as TMJ.

What are the symptoms of TMJD?

  • Pain in the ears, ringing in the ears, or hearing loss

  • Swelling on the face
  • Pain in the face without an apparent reason
  • Trouble in swallowing food
  • Clicking and popping on jaw movement
  • Locked jaw
  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
