several red bumps on back of tongue

I have several red bumps on the back of my tongue. They very in size large to small. My tongue also hurts a feeling like it was burned from drinking something to hot. But thats not what happend the pain came with the bumps and it seems to be getting worse. I have had them for a bout 7 days. I am 51 yrs old smoker
