I’m Dr. Randy LaFrom. As a dentist in San Jose, I advise my patients about proper oral hygiene tools to prevent problems beforethey start. Toothbrush: I advise my patients to use a soft-bristled brush that can easily maneuver between the teeth and gums. In regards to electric toothbrushes, I recommend SONICARE and TRIUMPH because they have timers, hold up well, easily move around teeth, and they are good for the gums. If cost is an issue, then I recommend Crest Spinbrush.
Toothpaste: There are over 75 different toothpastes on the market. For teeth sensitivity, bleeding, and plaque control, I encourage you to try ORAREX. If your concern pertains to cavity formation, or to level the pH in your mouth, I recommend ARM and HAMMER Baking Soda.
Fluoride: We recommend fluoride treatments at your semi-annual dental visit to strengthen tooth enamel against decay.
Dietary Supplements: Proper eating habits can minimize dental problems. If you need extra vitamins and minerals, I recommend a broad spectrum multi-vitamin to strengthen gums and teeth, and to lower the risk of disease.
