Is it normal that pieces which feel like bone are appearing in the mouth after a bone graft in prep for an implant?

The situation you describe might be part of the bone graft being rejected by the target site.  

When bone grafts do not heal, they become recognized as "foreign bodies" which are then expelled.  You should see your surgeon immediately to ascertain what is happening.  This could be a problem.
