Alcohol used up a lot of your B vitamins, C and folic acid.
If you add folic acid, B vitamins, vitamin C, A and zinc to your diet, you should get beneficial results.
If you decide to supplement with folic acid, it is a must that you also take vitamin B12 at the same time. If you do not, you may be masking a vitamin B12 deficiency and have problems due to that.

The sores started about 5 weeks after I quite drinking and have been there now for almost 23 days.
