How can I temporarily support a damaged tooth weakened by a cavity at its base??

Posted by ruafreebird

I have a big cavity at the gum line of a lower front tooth. My insurance will not cover it until January. I am afraid it will break before then. Only 50% of the tooth width is left at its base. Is there anything I can do to buy some time. A temporary wax filing I can put in it, or something like that? My dentist will nt fill it because he says he will be pulling it in two months, and it is so fragile it may break while he is trying to clean the cavity to fill it. What can I do to save the tooth for two or three months?
