Aging, Bad & Missing teeth, Dentures & Implants

Posted Aug 23 2008 10:26pm

A report in the Journal of American Geriatrics (March 2008) found that people age 70 or older and who have no teeth are significantly more likely to report mobility problems (such as difficulty walking or climbing stairs). The authors have suggested a number of behavioral and socioeconomic factors may be related to the observed accelerated aging in this group. There is also a number of other associated factors such as poorer nutrition and an increase in systemic diseases found in people with dentures and missing teeth. A related study detailed in the September 2008 Journal of the American Society showed an additional high correlation between tooth loss, dentures, and dementia ( see my Blog site accessible from the website for my details).
