As National Tap Dance Day approaches (May 25, 2008), I am spending a lot of time preparing for the official launch of my new website. It is a subscription based website built to be a resource for tap dance steps, tap dance technique, & the philosophy of tap dance.
It is an even better resource for lovers of tap than this blog!
So why am I doing this?
When I started this blog, I had no idea what it would become. I did not know, at the time, that it would grow to become one of the most visited websites dedicated to tap dancing on the Internet.
The idea for the website came to me after I kept hearing from adults who really wanted to learn to tap dance, but could not access really good classes.
After all, in most of the country great tap classes and instructors are hard to find.
Moreover, most people have very little access to the wisdom that the masters of tap have passed down to their students.
So, in short, I am building this website to help more people experience the joy of tap dancing.
Those of us who love tap know that there is nothing else like it. The joy of “becoming” rhythm cannot be overestimated.
Tomorrow, I will announce the launch of the new website and invite you to join the mailing list so you can sample some of the content within and even take a video tour.
In the meantime, enjoy this clip of me performing a piece based on the style of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson.
After all, National Tap Dance Day is his birthday! Thanks Bo!
