Just when we thought that the media couldn't possibly talk about Britney Spears more, it happened: a Britney ballet. Brought to you by the guy who wrote the music for the Jerry Springer Show opera. I'm not even kidding. The choreographer is named Hurbert Essakow. I really hate him right now. And all of Rambert Dance Company.
Britney is portrayed by dancer, Gemma Nixon. According to the BBC news report, the company's ballet dancers are having trouble grasping the concept of the risque, pop-videoesque, non-balletic movement that is "Britney Spears: The Ballet". What a surprise.
The short clips of the choreography that they show seem to consist of paparazzi characters dressed in all black picking Britney up, spinning her around, etc. There's also a scene that depicts the shaving of the hair. Yikes.
This should be an... interesting take on ballet, and on the life and meltdown of Britney Spears. I wonder if there will be a pregnant Jamie Lynn character. Or maybe an Adnan Ghalib? I can't wait to see the reviews of this.
