Sorry about the lack of updates! The dance studios opened for fall (yay!) so I've pretty much been there.
I found a really good Dance Magazine article on how to prepare and maintain your pointe shoes for class and performances. It has tips from the pros and even a little tidbit by and for guys dancing en pointe.
I promise, this is the last I will speak of SYTYCD for, well, at least a while.
Congratulations to the Top 4, really, to the whole Top 10 plus Hok, Anya, Shauna, and Jesus who will all be on tour. All of these dancers were pretty darn amazing even though I personally did not prefer some of them *coughLACEYcough*. I wish them luck on tour and in their future endeavors whether they be in dance or in other fields. They all have some amazing talent.
I went in Payless the other day because 1.) I'm shoe obsessed and 2.) apparently, ABT has teamed up with the store to make a line of ballet, jazz, and tap shoes and clothing for children, teens and adults. They seem slightly better than what you used to be able to buy there but the tap shoes suck and what three year old needs $17 ballet shoes that they might only use for a month?
If you read any dance related magazines, you may have noticed that in this season's ad for New York City Dance Alliance Jaimie Goodwin (this doesn't count as a SYTYCD mention because I was a Jaimie fan before the show) is the dancer in their background picture. I just found this and it for some reason excited me.
I'm having writer's block issues so this is a pretty short one. I'll try to post more later.
