No clenched fists. Clenching your fists while dancing will make you look extremely tense. Don't do it.
Pick your style. Pick a style of dance that appeals to you – both in the music and the movements.
Practice makes perfect. Dancing is a series of coordinate moves. Practice makes perfect.
Relax. Try to relax when you dance, you'll be much smoother.
Say yes. Try not to refuse someone when they ask you to dance. It takes courage, and it never feels good to be rejected.
Sing along. Sing along to the music. It will help you get into it.
Snap your fingers. If you're really not sure what to do, snap your fingers and move your body from side to side.
Stretch. Don't forget to stretch after every class.
Try out the teacher. If you're taking dance classes, try out the teacher before you commit. Make sure you feel comfortable and like his/her style.
Wear The right shoes. There are specific types of shoes made for each dance style. If you're serious about dancing, make sure to get the right ones.
