Ballet Youtubers

Posted Aug 25 2008 2:42pm

It amazes me how many ballet companies now have YouTube accounts. Until 5 minutes ago, I thought Anaheim was the only one. Wrong.

American Ballet Theatre- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=AmericanBallet

Anaheim Ballet- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=AnaheimBallet

Something called "European Ballet"- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=EuropeanBallet I'm not sure if it's a company or a collection of videos from European ballet companies.

Paris Opera Ballet- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=ParisOperaBallet

The Bolshoi Ballet- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheBolshoiBallet

The Kirov Ballet- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheKirovBallet

The Royal Ballet (official)- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=RoyalOperaHouse

The Royal Ballet (unofficial)- http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheRoyalBallet

I find a little fishy that they all look EXACTLY THE SAME except for a few, but, more people have access to some pretty dang amazing choreography and dancing. Which leads me to my next point: having never learned Kitri's variation form Don Quixote, after watching a few videos of this, I seriously think I could successfully dance that except for the promenade toe hops. Or, the version that I've seen most often. The other ones look a little tricky to just watch a few times and then essentially be able to do.

Stay on your toes,

Selly
