While Patrick was deployed, I bought a cute pink sewing machine and planned on making all sorts of neat stuff. Then, after sewing a simple dog bed for Shiner, I decided that my adorable sewing machine was possessed by the devil. I couldn't figure out how to work it to save my life and it never, ever seemed to want to cooperate with me. Then, P's stepmom turned a few knobs and twisted a few dials when she was here visiting a few months back and VOILA! A functional sewing machine.
I have a book of easy patterns and last week I decided that I was going to sew a tote bag using one of the patterns in the book. I went out, bought the fabric, and then when I got home I realized that the tote pattern was pretty hideous. Since I already had a bunch of fabric, I decided to just wing it and make a bag without a pattern. Easy, right? Ha!
It took about 5 hours to make the tote bag, but I really like the way it turned out! I've been using it for school and it's the perfect size for all of my stuff. Someone even complimented me on it the other day and asked where she could get one. :)
The inside of the bag is lined with the green material and there is a magnetic closure.
Next up, sewing a slip cover for an ottoman that P accidentally spilled lacquer on (don't ask) and curtains for our bedroom!
