One Week Later

Posted Oct 15 2009 10:04pm
I was up at 4:30 this morning to knock out my 1.5 hours of breathing treatments and then made it to my 7AM doctor's appointment for a follow up PFT. If my numbers weren't up we were going to consider a stay in the joint or IV antibiotics at home....

But, I am doing SO much better than last week! Praise God!

My FEV1 went up 11% and my FVC went up 12% in one week! I am so, so, so overjoyed! I'm still considered a little low for me (76%/89%), but I know I am defnitely on the road to recovery. I have my new PFT results proudly hanging on the fridge to motivate me to keep working at it!

I also got my allergy test results back and they showed that I'm allergic to dust mites (isn't everyone?), Kentucky Blue grass (which is what we have in the backyard) and CATS! I'm not a fan of cats (sorry, cat people), so I found this amusing! I'm obviously very thankful that I'm not at all allergic to my Shiner pup.

So, it seems like switching my allergy meds from Zyrtec to Allegra, adding in the TOBI nasal wash and an extra week of oral antibiotics seems to finally be getting this junk out of my sinuses. It's nice to actually taste food again!

The most important thing is that I FEEL so much better and I finally have some of my energy back! I promise I will once again start blogging about what is going on around here, but on top of being sick, I have been crazy busy. Did I forget to mention that I started a completely new career that has included tons of classes, training, testing, paperwork, and basically a giant lifestyle change? No? Ok, I'll touch on that soon. :)

Thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement! You are a blessing in my life!
