Thankful Things Thursday: Team Challenge Race Weekend Edition!
Posted Dec 01 2011 7:00am
I figured I would take a break from all of the crazy last minute errands and packing for Thankful Things Thursday. Given that it’s race week, I have an extra-special dose of things to be thankful for, and besides, being thankful is bound to reduce my stress, right?
Here we go.
I’m thankful for $4,500 that is going to help cure Crohn’s and colitis. Yes, a pretty even number. That’s how much Goose and I have raised for CCFA at this point, and I’m thrilled. When I started this training journey, I was nervous about committing to $2,500. I had just raised money for Girls on the Run and wasn’t sure anybody would donate. (Well, except our parents. I kind of figured they would.) I am floored at the generous responses from our friends, family, and strangers. (And hey, if you were waiting to see if we could make it to race day, you can still donate .)
I’m thankful for each and every one of you who supported this journey. It’s been a long journey this year for me. From half ironman training to having to back out to getting ready for my first event with CCFA, I have been met with nothing but love, support, and kindness. To all of you who donated, offered words of encouragement, helped share my story, and have listened to me ramble on about how much I love CCFA and how important this cause is and how much I love my teammates, thank you.
I’m thankful for my teammates. I’ve said it over and over again. I am so grateful for the wonderful people I have met through Team Challenge. I can’t wait to head to Las Vegas and share this weekend with them, celebrating our training and rocking out 13.1 miles for such a good cause.
Oh, look. My favorite teammate photo again. I should really start using others, you guys must think my team is teeny tiny. I swear there are more of us.
I’m thankful for all the other Team Challenge participants I will meet this weekend! To say I’m ridiculously excited for the Team Challenge events is an understatement. I can’t wait!
I’m thankful for all the names on my arm warmers . Thank you to those of you who passed along your name or the name of a loved one. When I started training with Team Challenge, I knew one other person who had colitis. When I race on Sunday, I’ll have over thirty names on my sleeves of people with IBD who I am carrying along the way. I am so honored to get to run for each and every one of you. (And myself, too!)
I’m thankful for Coach Brad and Coach Maggie. They are ridiculously awesome and helped us all get to the race in one piece.
Okay, it’s short, I know. I really am thankful for lots of things but I have serious organizing to do before I leave for Vegas tomorrow! So tell me, what are you thankful for today?
