Hold My Hand

I seriously have some Hootie stuck in my head today. Hooooooold my hand. Hoooooold my hand.

Anyway, it’s day 14 of National Health Blog Post Month from WEGO Health.  (Find other bloggers participating on Twitter at #NHBPM.) I know I’ve missed a few days, but I’m still having a good time joining in when I can. Today is all about how to deal with negativity in your health community.

For me, it’s simple. I find the positive. You can find it all over this blog.

I have hope .
I recognize the gifts that my chronic illness gave me .
I celebrate the friendships that this disease has brought into my life . (And those two were just the beginning.)
I know that the struggles I’ve faced from this disease have only made me stronger .


Just some of the people who wouldn’t be in my life if I didn’t have IBD.

With all the positive that has been brought into my life because of IBD, I simply choose not to focus on the negative. If bloggers get crazy negative (I’m not talking about a post here or there), I remove them from Google Reader. I use the “hide” feature on Facebook. I “unlike” pages. It might sound a little extreme, but I just don’t have time to be dragged down. There’s too much good in life!
