Posted Sep 22 2008 10:10am
Learn about your COPD or other lung challenges. Attend information conferences. Ask your local American Lung Association if they have - or know of Lung Education days. Visit the ALA Colorado's site = http://www.lungcolorado.org/LungDisease.htm or national ALA COPD site http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=23050 You can even call their Lung Help Line: 1-800-586-4872. The gal in the photo has cheered the COPDer's + team at each of their annual CLIMB the highest building in Denver...last year it was the REPUBLIC. We will be climbing again in February. ALA has these support Lung disease events all over the country, try climbing or get someone who can climb stairs climb in honor of COPD or other lung challenged patients.
The ALA was where I got my start walking in their lung challenge events and attending their Coping and Caring COPD information day, back in 2003. I get stronger every day, and continue to gain knowledge that keeps me moving...which is hard to do, but, you keep trying and slowly carefully you can improve your ability to function and move. roxlyngcd@comcast.netPM workout with small weights = 30 minutes.
