Leg Exercises and Wall Push ups - Just For You! from EFFORTS’ Ann Lornie

As our lungs deteriorate, there is one thing above all that is free, doable at home and can improve our ability to move around and breathe better.

Yes, it is exercise.

The following exercises are within the range of most of the patients on EFFORTS , unless you have arthritis and joint problems. If you have any heart issues, check with your doctor, please, but as long as you pace yourself and give yourself recovery time in between sets, I think you should be ok. If I’m wrong, haunt me! :)

The great thing about these exercises is that once you have increased the fitness and strength of your leg muscles, they will use less oxygen and that will enable you to move around without getting so out of breath.
Do the squat exercises every other day. I know, you will be itching for the 48 hours to pass so that you can ‘Do it again, do it again!’ :)

Chair Squats

The following are squats without the use of a chair, but I do these exercise in front of the sofa for safety.

Wall push ups

Calf raises - improves circulation in the lower part of the legs - these can be done every day! I know, is that exciting or what? :)
