Today I took the little GoLox by Respironics back to American Medical Sales & Repair...it was a privilege to test out their display model. In the photo is is great worn on the back side for tasks that require bending over, as in tending flowers, or reaching down into the stove, positioned on the fanny keeps the tubing away from the oven or burners too. Since I have a gas stove and tto, the tube is hidden under my clothes, but with a cannula one can place the tubes back over the ears and snug the cannula up behind the head like a pony tail. Thusly tubes stay well away from the flickering burners or from getting melted on the oven door. I obtained good literature on many of their products so I can answer questions about them.
For low flow users with TTO, transtracheal oxygen deliver system, the hose into the neck...this liquid GoLox portable beats them all for comfort in bolus pfffft delivery. The Helios is inappropriate to use with TTO because of its dual lumen cannula tubes, but this one is perfect with a single tube. I hardly feel the pressure at flows under 2.5, and at 3 & 4 it is more comfy than any others, especially more so than with compressed gas Oxygen, that gives too hard a blast...tolerable but tiring, but GoLox is not annoying or tiring at all. Of course constant flow doesn' t feel at all under 3 liters, and when higher if you are exercising it feels better. that is why I switch to a constant flow for exercise, besides when I exert I require very high flows here in the altitude. The oxygen delivery at 4L pulse is enough to allow me to walk 2 mph holding sats up to 95%.
My GUESS is this portable would be super for someone using up to 2.5 liters for slow about the house needs, with the 3 & 4 for some walking. If you want to walk over 2.2 miles per hour, say 2.5 mph it would only hold me between 88 & 90% on 4L. Because we are all like snowflakes-different from each other, and at different altitudes, one absolutely must test out every piece of equipment. ESPECIALLY when it comes to the POC' s which are concentrators and deliver a lower purity of oxygen. The GoLox is 99% pure O2, where as POC' s are 90% + or - 3%...and that does make a difference in maintaining oxygen saturation.
GoLox Respironics does work hard to design with patient' s needs in mind, and they have a site to learn about all their products,RESPIRONICS MANUALS & LITERATURE> http://global.respironics.com/manualsandliterature.asp
American Medical Sales & Repair1-888-681-6085 or 1-888-280-2677 is where I bought mine. The offices are located at12742 E Caley Avenue Suite 2Cin Centennial,Colorado, 80111 PICTURESof oxygen unitsSee at: www.portableoxygenconcentrators .com
Nick told me some of the prices of various portables there, the GoLox liquid unit is close to $1,000.
But the POC' s...portable oxygen concentrators, all are about $2995.00, so pick the one that is best for you > Invacare XPO2, SeQual Eclipse2, Respironics Evergo2, or the Delphi evo Central Air. The larger package deals may differ in price depending upon what you want includedsuch as more batteries, a charge, humidifier, etc. They will match or lower any other prices.
Again, I have no financial interest in any of these companies. roxlyngcd@comcast.net
