I just love this item, from my search engine slush pile “I have a bad neck, how much DLA do I deserve?”.
The simple answer is not a penny.
As I said yesterday, nobody is entitled to DLA. Equally, nobody deserves it. Where DLA is concerned, the only question is whether or not you qualify for it.
There are two components to DLA. Mobility, for help with getting around, if you are disabled** to such a degree that your ability to walk is seriously impaired by pain or severe discomfort, further qualified by a raft of supplementary questions, and Care, which is self-evident.
**That is, are you sufficiently disabled by whatever ails you that you meet the criteria for payment, and is the disability you describe supported by the medical evidence?
It really is that simple.
NB: Yes, I know that the way the system works makes it far more complicated than that, but that’s another issue entirely. It doesn’t have to be complicated at all.
