In the center, my husband, Lou. Tanks sometimes get finiky and lose O2 before they should...he is right there to help us as our all important back-up "rescue" support oxygen tech', or for any reason Help person. He follows along all 13.1 miles, with a small liquid oxygen reservoir tank and is watching over us for many hours while we walk. I love him. Mike on left of picture and myself on the right. Age and COPD do not need to stop you from walking, maybe slow you down a little, but choose to keep moving, and you will feel better.
roxlyngcd@comcast.net The next article refers to "Running"...... not many folks with COPD run, but we CAN walk aerobically if we keep following pulmonary rehabilitation recommendations. Work slowly up to a mile in about 25 minutes, and keep repeating this almost daily. You too can reap some of the benefits, I know I have...never mind it took YEARS to improve, the main thing is, YOU CAN DO IT...barring other serious medical limiting issues.
Set up your own rehab maintenance program. Just modify it to your own individual abilities, then keep doing it consistently, you WILL benefit with an improved quality of life and functioning ability. It's a good idea to check with your own medical advisor as to what is good for you as an individual. What we do may not be good for you.
ScienceDaily (Aug. 11, 2008)"The study has a very pro-exercise message,". "If you had to pick one thing to make people healthier as they age, it would be aerobic exercise." There are many other sites on this page, check it out. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/08/080811195633.htm
