April 12 2011 get on the 'come back' trail to better breathing + fitness

get on the 'come back' trail… half the battle is deciding if you really want to put the effort in to moving more and more towards exercise that makes a big difference. It is much easier to sit back and complain about the difficulty and how hard it is, and some even like to be waited upon, BUT, that is NOT going to help you help yourself.
You have to WANT to do it. Then it is possible, [sometimes at an excruciatingly slow rate], but it is possible, and that is what counts!
My last months activity has had starts and stops because of cataract surgery. I am doing very little aerobics, (temporarily), but instead can manage light lifting, and being productive in my yard, preparing my vegetable gardens (digging) and spreading a new layer of shredded bark… helping to clear out vines next to broken fence posts, and so on - out in the sunshine 3-5 hours at a time. It is amazing how having been on a small weights and resistance program has helped my upper body strength and it made all my extended work possible.
Frequent shopping prolongs life, study suggests(April 9, 2011) -- A spot of regular 'retail therapy' really does seem to help people live longer, suggests new research. Frequent shopping among the elderly may not always be about buying things, but about seeking companionship or taking exercise, which is easier to do than more formal exercise that usually requires motivation. ...shopping could be a surrogate for good health to begin with, but suggest that shopping itself may improve health, by ensuring a good supply of food, to maintain a healthy diet. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/04/110406192437.htm
Oxy-View Oxygen Therapy Glasses By Deborah Leader, RNhttp://copd.about.com/od/copdtreatment/fr/oxyviewreview.htm I have a pair of these glasses, they worked VERY well and I also purchased two of their oximeters – so inexepensive I can have a couple on my exercise equipment. They tested out right up there with the best oximeters, even with the hospital oximeter - at my bronchoscopy. I do love the Nonin 9500 Onyx II the best because it gives a faster read out, plus it has a green light indicating when it is settled to a good accurate read out. Compare prices range from over $350. to under $50.00 if both work well, pick one to fit your pocket book.

Ask them if they clean their oximeter each time it is used.
