The way swine flu is spreading it’s time we all learn what it is. Its symptoms. How to avoid it. And the serious warning signs.

What is Swine flu:

Swine flu is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses.

Swine flu symptoms:

The symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of regular flu. cough, fever, sore throat, body aches, chills and fatigue. Some people also get diarrhea and vomiting.
But also serious illnesses like pneumonia, respiratory failure and death can occur. Swine flu can also cause worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.

Swine flu warning signs in children (if these occur seek urgent medical attention):

  • fast breathing
  • trouble breathing
  • bluish skin color
  • not drinking enough fluids
  • not waking up
  • not interacting
  • fever with a rash
  • being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
  • flu like symptoms that improve and then return with a worse cough

Swine flu warning signs in adults (if these occur seek urgent medical attention):

  • difficulty breathing
  • shortness of breath
  • pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • sudden dizziness
  • confusion
  • severe or persistent vomiting

How to avoid  Swine flu:

There are a couple of very simple steps you can take that can make all the difference.

  • Wash your hands with soap often.
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue when you sneeze then through away the tissue.
  • Stay away form people who are sick.

The swine influenza does not spread through food.
