Weekly Goal: Exercise Your Brain

Posted Aug 17 2009 10:12pm

While in the interest of a healthy lifestyle, the focus is on the body. We want to exercise regularly. We want to get in shape. All of these are worthy goals. A healthy body is key to a healthy lifestyle. However, an important piece of the puzzle is missing–brain health.

Your brain is like any other part of your body. To stay in shape, it needs exercise. Exercise, fortunately, isn’t in the form of push-ups or sit-ups. You can exercise your brain with challenges like reading, games, and problem-solving.

To keep my brain healthy, I’m throwing all kinds of challenges its way. I’m honing my XHTML skills. I’m learning PHP and Javascript. My Google Analytics certification is my next major hurdle. All of this brain time keeps my mind healthy. The benefits don’t stop here.

Keeping my mind sharp gives me the skill set to tackle other challenges in my day-to-day life. My mind is used to solving problems. It can quickly access a situation and develop solutions. Not only am a taking steps on the road to wellness, but I’m enhancing life skills.

Weekly Goal: Exercise my mind with challenges.
