We spend a great part of our lives “wishing away today”. When we are young we wish to be older, as we age we look ahead to the next milestone wishing it was already upon us, forgetting that today is a moment we will never have again and tomorrow is not promised. Why do we only remember to be thankful for today after witnessing horrific events such as the devastation in Haiti? What is it about human nature that causes us to so easily forget that today is a gift to be treasured and respected?
Instead of concentrating on what you don’t have, take a moment to consider the gift that you do have today. How will you celebrate?
