Supplements Relieve Prostate Enlargement Urinary Symptoms in Research Studies

Posted Oct 25 2008 4:48pm
Jolie Root, NC, is a Licensed Nutrition Counselor with a private practice in Parker, Colorado. She talked with Michael Glynn, who is a Naturopathic Physician with a practice in New Jersey. They talked about supplements, that have been shown in research, to help relieve prostate enlargement urinary symptoms. These symptoms include
  • Reduced urinary flow
  • Incomplete emptying of the bladder - causes sleep interruptions
  • Constant urge to urinate
  • Post urination dripping
Fish oil has been shown to reduce inflammation. The fish oil used in research studies is usually only 2 softgels a day of the very potent Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega. In Canada, a study of Vitamin D gave 400 or 800 Units a day to men. They were not able to pull their blood levels up to normal until these men were given 4,000 to 8,000 Units a day. Thats 10 times more than they had anticipated would be needed. Stinging Nettles, Saw Palmetto, and Pygeum Africanum have been shown to work together to relieve these symptoms. Stinging Nettles, Saw Palmetto, and Pygeum Africanum and many others are included in Carlson Nutra-Support Prostate.
