I thought you might enjoy my latest article on healthy eating, this one written for LoveToKnow.com. Many years ago, I went on a brief (and horrible) high protein diet. The diet doctor leading the program insisted I drink these thick soy protein shakes. I got violently ill. Not only am I intolerant to soy (I can have only a tiny bit of tofu, for example, in my stir fry) but just reading about how soy protein isolate is manufactured made my skin crawl. Take a natural plant produce, mash it until it's unrecognizable, remove all the fiber, wash it in a pure alkaline solution, rinse it in acid, then store it in aluminum vats (where aluminum can leach into the food). No thanks.
As you can see, I'm not a fan.
But I do think you're smart...make up your own mind after you read the pros and cons I outline in the article.
And do check out the other vegetarian, vegan and raw food articles on this site. It's really a great resource!
