The Ego and the Soul - Two entirely different parts of the person that conflict with one another. The ego is the part that has to have "MORE" and has to have "THINGS" to make it happy. The ego is not satisfied unless it achieves that. The "more factor" drives the ego. In the book, “The Shift,” by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, he discusses this perpetual inner conflict of the ego and how to shift away from those ego voices and move beyond it into a more meaningful direction.
Some of us have seen his movie, “The Shift,” now we can read the book! The book only has four chapters:From, Ambition, To, & Meaning.

Ambition is the drive that the ego feels, and Meaning is the self-actualization we attain once we make the shift to our higher self.
Our ego is always working even when we comment on other people’s “things.”We have to learn to get out of our ego’s way and shift into our soul’s true purpose.
Possessions or statuses do not indicate a person’s true success though. We have had these subliminal ego messages in our heads since we were children. We think that we have to attain certain symbols of materialism in order to achieve self-actualization.
“Our obsessiveness about owning more and more and boasting of our possessions is an indication that we’ve allowed our false self to become the dominant force in our life.”
Once we make that shift from ambition to meaning, we begin to live a life with true happiness and fulfillment.True happiness is when we have found our authentic self.
