Report: A bit more vitamin D is good, not too much - Yahoo! News

Well, the headline was promising, at any rate. The idea that drinking more milk will improve health, however, is an absurdity. The best sources of vitamin D are sunshine (to stimulate your body to make it) and green, leafy vegetables. Most commercial milk and milk products such as ice cream contain hormones that end up in your own body - first the cow gets it, then she excretes it in her milk for you to drink it. And nobody knows over the long haul how that's going to affect you or your children. Female babies in China are growing breasts in infancy thanks to the hormones found in milk. So....more vitamin D is good; judicious exposure to sunshine and lots of green smoothies is the way I'm getting mine. And get your D levels tested. It's a simple blood test done at the doctor's office and may pinpoint a deficiency.
