The word “Rei” means: from the higher spiritual realms and contains a consciousness. "Chi" or “Ki” refers to a universal energy, capable of infinite expansion and contraction energy. The Japanese dictionaries define "ki" as mind, spirit, or heart. In all schools of Oriental medicine "ki" refers to a subtle form of "vital energy." "Ki" is the life force; a source of internal strength. To put it more simply for the western mind we might say: "Ki" CAN be directed, but not contained by the mind. It is the principle of the universe itself and of higher consciousness.
A Reiki Master teacher , as part of their training, gives Reiki Attunements to students . The Reiki symbols activate a greater flow and increase the strength of "ki" or spiritual energy within the student. Many students who learn Reiki noticed that unproductive aspects of their lives began to clear up, largely due to the increase flow of this healing energy. Also a client receiving regular Reiki treatments will notice their life changes for the better.
