Reflection and Relaxation

Today is Memorial Day. It's a U.S. holiday where MANY people have off from work and school to honor and reflect those who have lost their lives in war or who are currently serving time in the military or war.

Memorial Day has de-railed a bit as far as its true meaning and holiday significance....

Many people see this day as a time to commence summer and to open up the grills and cook out. Families and friends drive to the ocean or lake to kick off summer, or even stay home and throw a party in the backyard where there is lots of food and beer and games.

There is one tribute to Memorial Day that is still holding strong. Many Americans hang the country flag from their homes, and some even wear a combination of red white and blue in their attire.

I think that over the past 10-11 years since the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. has gotten more unified and patriotic with this holiday....especially as we continue the Middle East war. There are several American men and women who are fighting every second in the Middle East and there are countless people who have lost their lives also.

It is unfortunate that we become more patriotic to our colors as we continue war, but at least we are loving up our country and its men/women. Shouldn't we be patriotic no matter what - regardless of war?

Today is not just a day off to suck on beer or eat animal flesh on an open fire pit, but it's a day of reflection and relaxation to honor everyone on our country who stand up/stood up for our country.

Let's be one step up and be a healthy and holistic American....let's grill fish, vegetarian burgers, chicken and vegetables on the grill!! Stand proud to be a holistic and healthy American!!

Honor the Red White & Blue!! Thank you US troops of all branches....past and present!!
