Petrified bone marrow?

Posted by kayswhitten

I recently underwent surgery for total knee replacement.  My surgeon said my bones were quite dark (brown to purplish in color) and that the bone marrow had to be drilled out instead of "scooped" out.  Just wondering if anyone out there has heard of such a condition as this before?  I DO drink a lot of milk and a recent bone density test came back normal.  A pre-surgery CBC came back normal also.  Any ideas?  I am scheduled to see a hemotologist but wanted some feedback from other sources to get me started in my research.
