Natural Medicine for Children

Posted Jan 14 2013 12:41am

Parents interested in natural medicine for their children are invited to come see our new practitioner, Kat Starbird, L.Ac Shonishin is a Japanese treatment modality created for infants and children, it is non-invasive (no needles) and treatment includes using a variety of gentle tools to brush, tap and press acupuncture points without penetrating the skin. Stimulating the selected acupuncture points promotes a natural healing response.

Treatments are individualized, and will be created based on your child’s health history, physical and emotional constitution, and symptomology. Chinese herbal medicine and dietary therapy are often used in conjunction with Shonishin. Herbs are given based on your child’s condition, and will be liquid, powder or crushable pills (all which go great in apple sauce).

This medicine is ideal for infants and children with reoccurring, acute or chronic illness. It is also a preventative medicine to keep your child’s immune system strong. Commonly treated conditions include: respiratory infection, asthma, allergies, cough, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, emotional complaints, colic, bed-wetting, and much more. Children often notice improvement of symptoms at the time of treatment or within 24 hours and will best benefit from multiple treatments including follow up treatments during healthy periods.
