Multivitamin and Mineral Supplement Better then Iron and Folic Acid Alone in Pregnancy

Posted Nov 04 2009 10:04pm

happy_baby.jpg New research supports earlier findings that taking a comprehensive multivitamin and mineral supplement during pregnancy is a better promoter of healthy babies then taking folic acid and iron alone. This comes as no surprise when you realize that nutrients work together in harmony to promote health and balance in the body. While we do find benefit from supplementing with single nutrients, oftentimes the most profound effects come when you consume nutrient complexes, that contain a wide spectrum of vitamins, minerals and other natural chemicals, as they occur in nature. The longer I practice natural medicine, the more I come to appreciate and respect the healing power of nature, and the benefits of consuming foods and herbs in their whole, natural state for general health and well being.
