Today’s motivational tip challenges you to buck the statistics. For me, I like being my own person. I don’t follow trends or fashions. I decide for myself. So, when I saw the statistics on obesity in America, I was shocked.
Consider this. According to American Sports Data, Inc, the percentage of obese Americans rose from a modest 13% in 1962 to an overwhelming 31% in 2000. The numbers continue to grow. Over 63% of Americans are concerned overweight. What’s more disturbing is that childhood obesity has more than tripled. The latest statistics show that nearly 20% of 4-year-olds are obese.
The impacts are sure to follow from higher rates of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure to a lower life expectancy. These are the numbers that motivated me. I do not want to be part of that 63%. I choose not to be on that side of the numbers. I choose to take the road to wellness and lead a healthy lifestyle. Photo by srbichara
