Good questions!  You will definitely want to consult with someone before taking any herbs -- uterine bleeding can be caused by many different things, and herbal remedies for one might be exactly counterproductive for others.  Someone trained in Chinese medicine should do a thorough intake to help you find a good formula, and then should follow up and make adjustments as you heal.

Where are you in Michigan?  You may be able to find a practitioner on, or look here:

MAOM stands for Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi again Marilyn.  What does MAOM stand for?  Is there a particular company you can recommend to otain Chinese herbal medicine? I am concerned about buying something from a company I am unfamiliar with.  After reading about different herbs, some state that you shouldn't take if you have high blood pressure, which I do and some listed other side affects that contradict the reason I would be taking the herb in the first place.  Do you know of a website or specific practice where I can consult with someone before I purchase something? I live in Michigan. Thanks.

I would explore using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for this.  Your practitioner can determine the imbalance causing the abnormal bleeding, and help the body re-learn to regulate itself.  They can also treat the symptom directly in the short term -- there are are herbs and acupuncture points that can help stop bleeding quite quickly -- this is important if you are losing quite a bit of blood, since that blood loss is depleting and makes it harder for the body to heal the underlying problem.

I've seen good results treating this type of thing.  It's an investment in a number of treatments, but the good thing is your body can return to normal naturally, instead of just masking the imbalance with external hormones.  And people often report feeling better in other ways, too, as a result of bringing the body into better balance.

Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck!
