It’s time to go bananas! Bananas are not only great for the body when they are consumed orally, but they are also highly beneficial as a facial mask. This is because bananas are full of vitamins A, B6, B12, and C, and they also contain tons of magnesium and potassium. The acids in bananas also perform excellent exfoliating duties as well. For these reasons, you need to know how to make face masks with bananas.
Making Face Masks with Bananas
Banana can be added to virtually any type of facial mask that you wish to make. In most cases, it will not change the properties of the other ingredients that are in the facial mask. The simplest face mask to make with bananas includes one banana and one teaspoon of honey. You simply mash the banana up and mix it with the honey, and apply it to the skin, leaving it on for about fifteen minutes, and then rinsing it away with warm water.
Another easy face mask using bananas includes banana and oatmeal. You can either leave the oatmeal in oat form, or grind them smaller. You need to use about a quarter to a half of a cup of oats with one banana, and the banana needs to be mashed.
Selecting Bananas for Face Masks with Bananas
Ideally, when you purchase the bananas that you will use in your facial masks, you will seek out fruit that is organically grown – without harsh chemicals or pesticides. The best place to find these bananas is at the farmer’s market, as opposed to the produce section of your grocery store.
The bananas that you select should be ripe, without being overly ripe, so that they have retained the vitamins and minerals that are so important to your skin. There are those, however, who believe that the banana at any stage of growth is just as beneficial as a ripe banana. You will have to be the judge of that.
Face Masks with Bananas for Your Entire Body
Your banana facial masks can be used on other parts of the body as well. Try applying the mask to your elbows and the bottom of your feet and heels for exfoliating and moisturizing. You will be amazed at the results. You might also try adding mashed banana to your bath water, although the effects won’t be as great as those that you will find with a thicker mixture.
