We’ve been fighting wrinkles and other skin problems for centuries. That is one industry that will never go away as long as people continue to age. In the past, however, we were confined to visiting a dermatologist for the reduction of wrinkles. Eventually, wrinkle treatments became available in high end spas, including laser treatments. Today, home laser treatment for wrinkles is available.
How Home Laser Treatment for Wrinkles Works
Research has shown that special light, particularly red lights; actually stimulate the skin system to produce more collagen – which in turn reduces fine lines and wrinkles. This doesn’t mean that any red light will work, however. The red light has to use Intense Pulse Light technology, or IPL.
Unfortunately, many products on the market today that are marketed as home laser treatment devices for wrinkles are using regular red lights, instead of IPL. This makes them ineffective for the reduction of wrinkles.
Is Home Laser Treatment for Wrinkles Safe?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has begun approving several different devices that are designed for the reduction of wrinkles through the use of IPL. It is believed that these products are as safe to use as they are when used by skilled dermatologists and cosmetologist, as long as the user is properly following the instructions.
It is important that you use a newer device, as opposed to one that has been on the market for several years. The newer devices are safer and more effective. Others have been known to essentially burn and scar the skin, or at best to not work at all in the reduction of wrinkles. Also avoid under priced or cheap devices. A good device costs about $150 or more.
How long does it take to see Results of Home Laser Treatment for Wrinkles?
When you use a home laser treatment for wrinkles device, you will not see results over night. It can take numerous weeks, and in some cases months to see any results. The length of time it takes depends on your age and your natural collagen production, as well as the depth of the wrinkles that you currently have. While home laser treatment for wrinkles is a good thing, it isn’t a miracle cure.
Additionally, these same devices can be used to treat other skin conditions, including acne and age spots. Before using the device that you purchase for the treatment of wrinkles for other skin conditions, make sure that you check with your doctor first.
