Hello Pat,
Two things to consider doing immediately. First off, buy yourself a pair or two of compression socks. They make them in both men's and women's styles, and they help push the blood up your legs. They come in a variety of strengths and unless your doctor says otherwise, you should try the 15-20 range for strength. The other thing I would strongly consider is trying a different type of shoe -- one that will encourage you to do more walking, and that will actually exercise some different muscles down there which may not have been used much over your lifetime. These shoes are sold under the brand MBT (you can find out more about them by watching the video at their website, which is http://www.swissmasaius.com/. I use these shoes and compression socks and it keeps my legs feeling great.
Dave
