Heal burning sensation

Posted by chandler3113

Why does my heal burn?  One of my heals has felt like it is burning for several months. I spray atheletes foot spray on it every day, it helps temporarily (a couple of hours) but thats it.  I have not had ankle or foot injuries.  The burning is only on my heal.

Possibly plantar fasciitis (an irritation of the fascia or connective tissue on the bottom of the foot) - this, commonly shows up more on the heel.  Burning sensations could also point to a nerve irritiation. You wouldn't necessarily have to have had a specific traumatic injury. I often see these develop over time from poor gait patterns, arch shapes, heel spurs, poor joint motion in the ankle, etc.
