There are no compassionate words strong enough to hold our suffering hearts in the face of death. It is the loving intention beneath the words, running through them, that forms the net for our falling hearts.
Even as we tumble to the depths of despair, we are caught in the net of compassion. There are those who love us as we have loved. There are those who have suffered loss as we do. Every love is unique and individual. Every loss is personal and particular.
Yet the great web of life embraces one and all. Our suffering is a known suffering. Our healing is an eventuality toward which all the Universe tends.
As we enter the portals of grief, we are met by the understanding of the ages. Birth, love and death are landmarks of the human condition. As I open my heart to accept the reality of a beloved's passing, I open my heart to my own humanity.
Rather than isolate myself, feeling somehow special in my grief, I choose to see that my sorrow is the sorrow of the ages - poignant, personal and particular, yet universal in nature.
Today, I accept my tears of grief as the life-giving rain that fosters new growth. Even in the face of death itself, I feel the resiliency of life moving me inexorably onward to greater good.
by Julia Cameron, "Transitions: Prayers and Declarations for a Changing Life"
In light of the recent natural disasters and human tragedies, I wanted to share some inspired writing by Julia Cameron. The pain of loss can be staggering. When those of us are struck down by grief and longing, it is difficult to cope and even more difficult to imagine life regaining its sweetness. So let us take care in a time of mourning and choose to see sorrow as poignant, personal and particular, yet universal in nature.
So today I send you an energy boost to fill you with hope, love, and compassion, remembering to treat ourselves gently. Remember that to have love and compassion for others we must first begin with ourselves. Let us focus on the present moment and find delight in the small treasures of the day.
Thank you so much for being the wonderful and beautiful beings that you are and being part of this energy share. I celebrate and gratefully embrace the energy boost from you.
As you know dance and music are for me the expressions of the heart and soul...and this week is no exception. Along with my 2 cents about the wonderful gatherings of healing practitioners.
May you continue to experience the joy of living in the present moment.
Aloha pumehana (with blessings, love and affection),
Lydia
