Emotional Freedom Techniques: An Effective Alternative Medicine Tool?

Posted by Methods of Healing Patient ExpertComplimentary & Alternative Medicine

Would you believe that tapping could cure diseases and remove your fears and phobias? Gary Craig, the creator of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), is an engineering graduate from Stanford as well as an ordained minister who claims that EFT can be used to cure everything from such simple fears as public speaking to more complex diseases such as multiple sclerosis. He based his psychotherapeutic alternative medicine tool on a simplified version of Roger Callahan’s Thought Field Therapy (TFT) techniques.

What Is EFT And What Kind Of Tapping Is Involved?

In simple terms, it consists of using your fingers to tap on particular spots on your body, which are connected to meridians. This tapping motion is accompanied with a verbal acknowledgment of your fear, addiction or pain as well as verbal acceptance of yourself the way you are. The theory behind EFT is that disturbances in your personal energy field cause negative emotions and that tapping on special spots will send pulses through the meridians and eliminate these emotions, which will restore balance in your body.

While this theory bears some resemblance with some basic principles used in acupuncture (they both use meridians), it uses words, emotions and tapping instead of needles. It can also be performed almost anywhere at anytime.

EFT has reportedly helped patients where traditional western medicine failed. You may know that in the 1920s, Albert Einstein indicated that everything was made of energy, including our body. Combine that with some of the basic principles of acupuncture and it could explain why so many patients have reported success with EFT.

An Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT was used in conjunction with Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and TFT to treat patients after the attack on the World Trade Center. Volume 8 of the Traumatology Journal reported that the combination treatments appeared to have helped the patients get over these traumas.

What Issues Does EFT address?

Although the scientific community is not yet convinced that EFT is as beneficial as Mr. Craig claims it to be, many patients reported that EFT has helped them with the following issues or diseases: addictions, depression, chronic fatigue, fears and phobias, diabetes, blood pressure, pain relief, allergies, relationship issues, respiratory problems, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, weight loss and even multiple sclerosis.

How Can You Learn Emotional Freedom Techniques?

Mr. Craig has been promoting his techniques on his website for a number of years at www.emofree.com. He strongly believes that EFT can help a lot of people if they wish to give it a try. This is why you can subscribe to a newsletter and download the PDF manual that will teach you the basics of EFT for free. You can purchase additional materials or attend a seminar if you wish to learn more advanced techniques.

With so little to lose and possibly so much to gain, are you ready to give EFT a chance? Perhaps you’ll say goodbye to your fear of animals, your extra weight or that pain in your lower back.
