I was wrestling with a friend and I fell on top of their knee with my left rib cage on ribs eight through ten about mid clavicular line. This was three days ago and I have had some pain while lying on the area or when I press on it, but it was managable. Additionally, I can sometimes feel a slight "popping" sensation when I straighten up after sitting in a slouched position, but it is not painful and I cannot tell where exactly the popping is coming from. Today I got up off of the couch and was walking to the kitchen when I coughed and my back felt like it exploded with pain-Feels like a catch in my back. And it feels like it is the same rib, just posterior now, where it connects to the vertebre. No tingling, no pain down arms or defferred pain or shortness of breath, Pulse is 80 (normal for me) respirations are 16 (normal for me), I am afebrile, no nausea, just slight localized pain on inspiration and on exhalation when I cough or laugh-oh and the rib pain. Also, I can press on the rib cartilage- proximal to rib pain- and can feel discomfort on the area where I fell. Just wondering if my ribs are going to cause my back to break or cause a pneumo/hemothorax. Any advise will be greatly appreciated-especially that of which does not entail me going to the Doc's office. Thank you greatly, Mark.
