garlic Last week I promised my never-fail cure for athlete's foot, so this week, here it is! Secret weapon? Garlic. Outside of its obvious culinary application, garlic is a powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent. Compounds in the garlic inhibit the metabolism of over 20 common types of fungii and bacteria. Garlic has been known to neutralize amoebic dystentery and intestinal worms, lower cholesterol, regulate blood pressure, and stimulate the immune system. So that's internally. Externally, it's equally effective at wiping out all those little nasties that can get going inside shoes, under nails, and elsewhere.

I had realized--quite all of a sudden--that I had a "fungus among us," which I attributed to working in the garden dirt wearing rubber shoes during a spring hot spell. I had heard of the garlic cure for such infestations, but had never tried it. I found some organic garlic at Trader Joe's, took it home, and chopped it up into small pieces. I then scrubbed my feet thoroughly, and dried them off completely.

I spread the garlic out on a piece of plastic wrap, and wrapped my feet in it, making sure the pieces of garlic were in good contact with the affected areas. I stuck the entire production into my slippers. I kept the garlic wrap on all night, changed it in the morning after re-scrubbing, and wore it all day, and the next night.

By the morning of the third day, I was amazed to see that practically all the redness and soreness was gone, and all that was left was a good batch of dead skin. I re-scrubbed, and re-wrapped for good measure, and called it good by the end of the day. What a relief!

I've had cases in the past that were so stubborn, not even the commercial treatments did much, and that was over weeks! The "garlic cure" is such an inexpensive, simple, straightforward method--I just love it. I didn't mind the garlic odor at all--kind of liked it, actually, since I knew it was working. Like the bumper sticker says, "It's Chic to Reek!"

Upper Klamath Lake We've discovered another great nutritional product, that I think is one of the best ones we've found in months. It's called " E-3 Live" (not to be confused with our E-3 Pain Lotion!), a fresh, frozen form of the blue-green algae, AFA ( Aphanizomenon flos-aquae ), also referred to as cyanophyta. Planet-wide, cyanophyta are responsible for 90% of the Earth's oxygen and 80% of its food supply. This particular type of AFA is 97% absorbable as nutrients by humans and animals.

These single-celled plants absorb and grow to reflect their surroundings, and nowhere on earth is there a more pristine environment for these tiny organisms than on Upper Klamath Lake in Southern Oregon. The combination of super-rich dissolved minerals in the volcanic lake, lots of sun, and virtually zero pollution, make this form of AFA particularly vibrant.

Although there is a dried version, we've been eating the fresh, frozen version to great effect. We noticed right away an increase in energy and mental focus, doing just a tablespoon a day. This is the most efficient type of food there is, and a fantastic source of Omega 3 fatty acids, minerals and amino acids. We're very happy with this product, and the price is very reasonable. Well worth it! Check it out.

Until next week...

In vibrant health,
