New research from America is pointing to a risk of diabetes from eating just one egg every day and if you already have diabetes two or more eggs per week could make your condition worse.
The staggering claims come after a study of nearly 60,000 men and women over a twenty year period. Eating one egg per day was found to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes by 60% in men and 77% in women.
Researchers from Boston pointed toward the fact that eggs contain high levels of saturated fat and cholesterol which are known factors in increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Advice from the study was to limit egg consumption if you suffer with diabetes to just three per week and eggs with omega 3 fats were a better choice. Eating one egg per week was found to carry no increased risk of developing diabetes.
