Brushing, Flossing, & Rinsing Aren't Enough to Kill Colonies of Bacteria Below the Gum Line

Posted Oct 25 2008 4:48pm
James Harrison, D.D.S., was a guest on "Alive & Well" on the American Life TV Network. Jim is the author of "The Periodontal Solution: Healthy Gums Naturally". He explained that the latest research shows these people have bacteria below the gum line, which is contagious:
  • 90% of people over 55
  • 70% of people over 35
  • 30% to 40% of children
Research also shows the germs from your mouth can travel through your bloodstream and get into our hearts. He suggested using an alcohol free mouthwash. Alcohol is damaging to healthy cells and cells trying to repair. He said you need to use an oral irrigator, such as WaterPik, Viajet, or Hydro Floss with an antimicrobial solution. This flushes out the pockets below the gum line where the bacteria are living. Using toothpaste, mouthwash, and antimicrobial solution with herbs, essential oils, CoQ10, and folic acid is also important to nourish the tissues. He showed the Nature's Answer products which contain these ingredients. I looked for products like these about a year ago and Nature's Answer seemed to be the most complete.

Nature's Answer PerioBrite Toothpaste Cool Mint -- 4 oz (113.4g)
